2011 BMW Z4 GT3

BMW has unveiled the new 2011 Z4 GT3.

Specifically designed for private racing teams, the upgraded Z4 features a series of aerodynamic modifications to ensure "the car's competitiveness in the many, hard-fought GT3" races. Other goodies include an advanced engine management system, a steel safety cell, and a variety of CFRP components.

Power is provided by a new 4.4-liter V8 engine which is connected to a six-speed sequential transmission. Specifications weren't released, but the previous model featured a 4.0-liter V8 with more than 480 PS (353 kW / 473 bhp).

Currently available for order, the Z4 GT3 is priced from €315,000 ($454,550).

Here’s how the BMW Vision Efficient Dynamics or shortly the new registered BMW i8 gets back in the forefront with a new set of spy shots. We recently appointed that BMW’s Vision ED series model is likely to ba named i8 according to the latest trademarks filings recently registered by the German manufacturer.

The model in the pictures is slightly different than the concept version, pointing the modified hood but also the new doors. This can mean that the model got rid of few components found on the concept and the prototype in the spy shots gets closer to the production version.

The new BMW i8 got spied in Abu Dhabi but there still is a mystery regarding the propulsion system. We know that the concept version was carrying two electric engines together with a 1.5-liter turbodiesel propeller. However, we don’t have any certain details if the series version expected to debut somewhere in 2013 will adopt the same combination under the bonnet.

At the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, MANSORY Switzerland AG has released photos and details on their upcoming development kit for BMW 7 Series.

For the aerodynamics package, BMW 7 Series received a new front bumper with modified air vents fitted with vertical LED daytime running lights and carbon radiator grill. While the rear received a new roof spoiler, rear rim, rear apron, stainless steel end mufflers and quad tailpipes. Finishing the exterior design are new alloy rims which measure 22 inches in diameter and 10 inches wide wrapped in high-performance tires measuring 265/35 at the front axle and 295/30 at the back.

Under the hood, Mansory provide performance kits for models 750i and 760 Li consisting of an optimized engine electronics and sports air filter. The 750i model is now capable of producing 490 hp and 720 Nm of torque while the 760 Li produces 640 hp with 920 Nm of torque. The 760 Li can now sprints from 0-60 mph in just 4.2 seconds, 0.4 second faster than its predecessor.

For the interior, it receives an ergonomically re-designed sports steering wheel and a selection from Carbon or burl wood, leather or ultra-suede interior.

MANSORY Switzerland AG solely offers its own modifying kit and does not trade or sell entire cars.

Prior Design BMW 5-Series Styling Kit

BMW is still working on the production model of the new 5-Series sports car, however tuning companies across Europe like Prior Design are starting to announce the plans with some teaser pictures. Here we have some initial images of the F10 BMW 5-Series, which also were featured on the new 6-Series coupe and convertible models. Prior Design has been limited with the details, but it is obviously that styling package consists of a redesigned front bumper, front lip, hood vents, side skirts, fender vents, new rear bumper, and integrated diffuser holding the four exhaust pipes. The wheels will round out the package, and as we see here a nice set of black alloy rims complete the tuning job for the German BMW M5. More details and final pictures should be released soon.

The Concept M5 is essentially 99 percent production ready, so don’t expect any surprises in terms of styling at the presentation of the production model at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September this year. The highlight of the fifth generation of the M5 will be the new twin-turbocharged V8 engine lurking under the bonnet. BMW officials have already confirmed that the engine is a development of the 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8 with 555HP and 680Nm or 501 lb-ft of peak torque, tweaked to deliver more power. However, the German company is still keeping mum on output numbers. What BMW did disclose is that compared to the fourth generation of the M5’s 507HP V10 power unit, the newly developed V8 turbo has a significantly increased output level, whilst at the same time lowering previous fuel consumption and emission levels by at least 25 percent.

In the new M5, power is delivered to the rear wheels by a seven-speed M double-clutch transmission with Drivelogic, which was specifically tuned to the new V8 engine’s performance characteristics. The M5 also gets an Auto Start Stop function. BMW added that the F10 M5 will feature exclusive M suspension components such as the inter alia, the wheel suspension systems, specific axle kinematics as well as powerful and weight-optimised brakes. A new Active M Differential that optimises vehicle stability using targeted variation of locking torque between the right and left drive wheels, plus 20-inch forged alloy wheels shod tires size 265/35 ZR20 at the front and 265/35 ZR20 at the back, are also part of the package. As for the car’s exterior, BMW’s designers opted for a discrete appearance with a typical M-style front bumper, side gills on the front fenders, a new rear bumper with an integrated diffuser that houses twin tailpipes on either side, and a barely visible boot lid spoiler.
