From the makers of the ultimate production car of the planet comes another masterpiece – the Bugatti 16C Galibier. Bugatti’s announcement of providing electric power to the new product is a welcome move. The engineering elite have set a precedent to move towards non polluting power.
A Bugatti Hybrid raises many eyebrows. Why on earth does the car carrying that 1000+ bhp W12 Veyron engine bother with a hybrid option? When working hard on the Veyron, the motor is capable of emptying the fuel tank in a couple of minutes. Efficiency is probably not the first thing on the mind of Bugatti customers. The answer to this lies in the zero emissions tolerance prevalent in several central business districts across the globe. By switching to electric power in such areas, the owners can drive to their destination and are not compelled to switch to public transport.
Though the car is still in its early design stages, the company is hopeful of finalizing the final dimensions and chassis construction by fall this year. It is expected to either carry over the monocoque of the Veyron or a new aluminium spaceframe. The Veyron has remained an object of desire with just 300 units produced and the Galibier aims to increase it to 3000 units .
