There is a report that Porsche is considering a new mid-engined model super car that will go head to head with the likes of Aston Martin, Ferrari, Lamborghini and McLaren.
“We’re looking to extend the range,” Porsche’s new CEO Mathias Muller said. “We’ve got an idea to do another mid-engined model. We’re thinking above the 911 but below the 918 Spyder. We have ideas on styling and design, which we will continue to develop in the coming months,” he said.

This new model is believed to be a regular production model and as Mathias Muller said; it will be positioned between the 911 and the 918 Spyder which is quite similar to 918 RSR.
Porsche 918 RSR is the combination of 911 GT3 R hybrid technology and 918 Spyder design. It is built on a stiff carbon plastic monocoque and is propelled by a direct-injected V8 from the RS Spyder making 563-hp. Its output can be boosted up to 767 hp with the help of the two 150 kW electric motors installed on the front wheels.

Engine for this new model is still under consideration, but if it wants to compete with the 458 Italia,MP4-12C and the Gallardo LP560-4, it must posses at least a power ranging 550 to 600-hp.
Price for this new model will be in the same range as the Ferrari 458 Italia, McLaren MP4-12C and the Lamborghini Gallardo which comes around $250,000 or more.
